Dexter Wines is the project of Tod Dexter who has several decades winemaking experience in the Mornington Peninsula, most notably at Stonier and Yabby Lake. Suffice to say, Tod brings some real winemaking pedigree to this personal venture that is reflected in the exceptional quality of his wines.
This 2022 Dexter Pinot Noir is another mouth-wateringly delicious Mornington Peninsula with the complexity and structure found in only the finest Australian Pinot Noir. It offers complex flavours of blackberries, plums, spices and hints of oak, with a lovely subtle texture and a long finish.
“96 Points. The colour is bright, medium-full crimson with purple tints, and as you sniff the aromas ripe cherry arise with lovely purity, the fruit doing all the talking. There are traces of spices and balsamic herbs, then a fruit-sweet core with ample tannins surrounding. These add structure and length. An impressive, fresh and youthful pinot that promises a bright future. Screwcap. 13.5% alc. Ageing: now to 2035”- Huon Hooke, The Real Review, June 12 2023
“94+ Points. Cherry, strawberry, a little spice, floral and autumnal, with a subtle mint top note. It’s medium-bodied, red fruits and spice, with light cedar oak, fine pumice stone tannin, cool acidity, and a juicy strawberry finish of precision and fine length. A quiet confidence here, never trying too hard, and all about delicacy and restraint. Lovely wine. 13.5% alc. $65 Screwcap Drink: 2024 – 2032+”- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
